There is an expectation, according to various research commenced by Gartner, that Apple will triumph Microsoft by a substantial 18 million units. This is expected to increase to a total of 28 million units, by 2019.

This is not somewhat surprising, due to the clear results of difference, between Apple interfaces, and Windows interfaces. Although, android devices are not included in the match-up, of the 2.3 billion android devices, only 11.2 percent are responsible for running a Windows Operating System.

Microsoft has announced the intention to fight their rankings, the company has made it clear that they are working on the Windows 10 phone, not only in the manufacturing but also in the total market penetration that the device will have, in hopes to instrumentally increase the total number of unit sales that the device incurs.

Microsoft attempts to stay relevant

According to official websites, which state “Microsoft continues to push the OS, via OEM’s as an operating system for the enterprise.”

This makes it clear that the tech giant is not yet ready to throw in the towel for its sales. However, the company is also focusing on a large portion of new projects, which includes the likes of VR, and AR orientated headsets.

This is surprising, that Apple takes the lead, however, due to the fact that for consecutive years, previous to 2017, the company has repeatedly reported dwindling sales. However, many analysts are contributing the release of the new iPhone 8 as a critical factor in the expanding market, and revenue predictions for the behemoth.
