Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that Woodside can turn steady production into durable cash flow, fund returns and keep a strong balance sheet through cycles. This quarter supports that view. Revenue rose $96 million from Q2 2026, and production rose 4.9 MMboe, helped by stronger LNG prices and output. Higher realised LNG prices helped offset lower average realised pricing from the liquids portfolio.

The report also showed operational reliability above 99% at Sangomar, the NWS Project LNG and Pluto LNG. Liquidity was approximately $7.8 billion at 30 September 2026, while net debt including lease liabilities was approximately $8.9 billion. The main caution is that the quarter also recorded three process safety events, including one at Beaumont New Ammonia, and Beaumont New Ammonia production was constrained to 69% of nameplate capacity.

What's next

Woodside's 2026 Capital Markets Day is set for Thursday, 5 November 2026, with a US Capital Markets Day on 12 November 2026 and a Fourth Quarter Report on 28 January. Scarborough remains on track for first LNG cargo this year, Trion is targeting first oil in 2028 and Louisiana LNG is targeting first LNG in 2029.

The Calypso sale is targeting completion in Q4 2026. A confirmed first cargo and closing would strengthen the case. Delay on either would weaken it.
