What happened
Shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) rose 26.5% from the December 31, 2025 close through October 21, 2026. Three consecutive record fiscal quarters support the gain, with renewed iPhone demand, growing Services revenue and faster earnings growth, although no single event explains every trade.
The fiscal first quarter set the tone. Revenue reached $143.756 billion, up 15.7% from a year earlier, while diluted earnings per share rose 19% to $2.84. iPhone and Services revenue reached all-time highs, and the installed base exceeded 2.5 billion active devices.
Momentum continued in the March quarter. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) reported $111.184 billion of revenue, up 16.6%, and diluted earnings per share rose 22% to $2.01. iPhone revenue reached a March-quarter record, Services reached another all-time high and operating cash flow exceeded $28 billion.
The June quarter extended the pattern. Revenue rose 16.4% to $109.417 billion and diluted earnings per share increased 29% to $2.02. iPhone, Mac and Services all set June-quarter revenue records. Those results show a stronger business trajectory, while the tariff-refund benefit means the headline margin cannot be treated as fully recurring.

The move in numbers
The price calculation uses the same common stock and U.S. dollars at both endpoints. One hundred multiplied by $343.99 divided by $271.86 minus one equals 26.5320%. Yahoo matched both raw closing prices within a fraction of a cent and reported three cash dividends but no split in the comparison window.
For the nine months ended June 27, revenue rose 16.2% to $364.357 billion and net income rose 20.0% to $101.464 billion. Diluted earnings per share increased 22.4% to $6.88 because earnings grew while the diluted share count fell 2.0%.
The 26.5% share gain exceeded nine-month diluted earnings-per-share growth by 4.1 percentage points. That is not a valuation model, but it shows that the price moved somewhat faster than the latest cumulative earnings measure. Future results now carry a higher expectation.
Services explain why the mix matters. In the June quarter, Services produced 28.1% of revenue but 42.4% of gross margin. Its 75.6% gross margin was almost twice the 40.1% product margin. The recurring ecosystem earns more from each sales dollar than hardware, even though the iPhone remains the larger revenue engine.

How the business works
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) designs devices, operating systems, chips and services as one ecosystem. Hardware brings users into the installed base. The company then earns recurring revenue from the App Store, cloud storage, payments, advertising, support and subscriptions.
That model still depends heavily on the iPhone. Nine-month iPhone revenue was $196.515 billion, or 53.9% of total sales. Services revenue was $91.728 billion, or 25.2%. The combination matters because hardware drives reach while Services brings steadier, higher-margin economics.
Distribution also broadens the customer funnel. The 2025 annual filing said 40% of sales came through direct channels and 60% through carriers and other resellers. That reach can scale new devices quickly, but it also leaves product demand exposed to replacement cycles, carrier promotions and consumer budgets.
Alphabet Inc. Class A (NASDAQ: GOOGL) competes through Android, mobile services and app distribution. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) competes in personal computing, operating systems, cloud services and productivity software. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) answers with tight integration, premium hardware, a large installed base and control over the customer experience.
Why the case is still difficult
The bull case strengthened because growth stayed near 16% for three reported quarters instead of fading after the holiday period. Nine-month iPhone revenue rose 22%, Services revenue rose 14% and operating cash flow reached $116.996 billion. The standing case works if those gains persist while the ecosystem keeps users spending.
The strongest counterargument is that part of the latest margin jump was unusual. The fiscal third-quarter gross margin was 50.1%, including roughly two percentage points from tariff refunds. Applying two points to quarterly revenue gives about $2.19 billion of gross-profit scale, although that rough calculation is not a precise income-statement bridge.
Product concentration also raises the downside. More than half of nine-month revenue came from the iPhone, so a weaker upgrade cycle can overwhelm progress elsewhere. The filing also warns about aggressive pricing, short product cycles, tariffs, component costs, regulation and competitors with large installed bases or lower-cost offerings.
The stock has already moved faster than cumulative diluted earnings per share. That does not make it expensive by itself, because this article does not estimate fair value. It means the next report must defend the higher expectations with durable demand and margin evidence rather than one-time benefits.
What's next
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is scheduled to discuss fiscal fourth-quarter results on November 2. Watch iPhone and Services growth, product and Services margins, operating cash flow, the diluted share count and the holiday-quarter outlook. Gross margin excluding unusual tariff benefits is the cleanest near-term test.
The 2026 evidence supports a stronger operating trajectory, but it cannot prove why every share moved or guarantee another gain. The price calculation excludes dividend reinvestment. The next report must show that record quarters are becoming a durable earnings base despite product-cycle, component-cost, competitive and regulatory risks.
