What happened
Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (NASDAQ: TSEM) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $526 million, up 33% from $396 million a year earlier.
The foundry guided fourth-quarter revenue to $600 million, plus or minus 5%. That mid-range figure is 36% above the year-earlier quarter and 14% above the third quarter, the Nov. 2 release said.
Chief Executive Officer Russell Ellwanger said the guidance puts Tower on course to close 2026 at $2 billion in annual revenue and a $2.4 billion annualized revenue run rate. He said demand for infrastructure products, SiPho (silicon photonics) and SiGe, is driving exceptional growth in high-speed connectivity.

What the quarter showed
Profit grew much faster than sales. Gross profit was $179 million, 92% above $93 million in the third quarter of 2025. Operating profit of $127 million, which the release says excludes non-recurring items, was 2.5 times the $51 million of a year earlier.
Net profit, also excluding non-recurring items, was $120 million, or 23% of revenue. That equals $1.05 per diluted share and is 2.2 times the $54 million earned in the third quarter of 2025.

How silicon photonics carries the guide
The outlook leans on silicon photonics. Tower targets an annualized SiPho revenue run rate of $1.1 billion in the fourth quarter, five times the 2025 SiPho annual revenue. That is a target, not reported revenue.
Ellwanger said capacity investments, including the announced Track-1 Japan 300mm buildout, are ahead of schedule. He said customer contracts are being extended through 2029, which he said supports Tower's 2028 revenue and margins model.
Cash, capital spending and customer advances
Capital spending outran operating cash flow in the quarter. Operating activities produced $185 million, up from $139 million a year earlier, and included a $23 million increase in customers' advances. Net investment in property and equipment was $191 million, up from $103 million.
Customer prepayments are building on the balance sheet. Deferred revenue and customers' advances in current liabilities were $248.93 million on Sept. 30, against $25.58 million at Dec. 31, 2025. Long-term customers' advances rose to $92.05 million from $1.93 million.
Tower held $250.75 million in cash and $1.22 billion in short-term deposits. It had $13.45 million of short-term debt and $140.28 million of long-term debt.
Why it matters
OptimistFi has argued that Tower creates value if its specialty process know-how keeps customers qualified to its fabs, so a cyclical recovery reaches margins and cash. The quarter supports the margin half of that view. By OptimistFi's calculation from the release, gross margin was 34.0%, up from 23.5% a year earlier, a gain of 10.5 percentage points.
Contracts extended through 2029 and the build in customer advances fit the qualification argument. The release's risk section refers to SiPho customer prepayments received for minimum capacity commitments.
The cash half is less settled. Capital spending exceeded operating cash flow in the quarter, and part of that cash flow came from customer advances.
The guidance is also a forecast. The release warns that SiPho, SiGe and other customer demand may not reach forecast levels. It adds that over-demand could cause bottlenecks, delayed deliveries, penalties or repayment of prepayments if Tower cannot meet commitments.
What's next
Tower's next quarterly report will cover the fourth quarter of 2026. Revenue inside the 5% range around $600 million, and a SiPho run rate near the $1.1 billion target, would support the year-end revenue target. A miss on either would weaken the case that demand is converting into margins.
Ellwanger also said Tower targets a start to 2027 that avoids the industry's typical first-quarter seasonality.
