What happened
Polar Power, Inc. (NASDAQ: POLA) said it received a trial order for 50 propane-fueled DC generators from a major Tier 1 telecom operator in Southeast Asia. The generators will power off-grid and bad-grid cell sites. Polar said the trial is the first phase of a possible five-year program.
The program could cover about 2,500 of the customer's sites. Polar also said it has begun talks on a next phase of 200 propane generators. The customer has not committed to a wider rollout. Based on current estimated system pricing, the opportunity could reach up to about $60 million in revenue over five years. Polar said the order follows more than five years of work with telecom operators in Asia-Pacific.

Why it matters
OptimistFi's case is that Polar Power needs telecom demand to return soon enough to restore positive manufacturing economics. This filing helps that case because it shows a live trial order from a telecom operator. Polar also said it has bought about 2,000 Toyota 1KS engines to support possible volume growth. That inventory could help if orders increase.
OptimistFi's calculation puts the 50-unit trial at about 2% of the roughly 2,500-site potential program. The filing also says the company previously wrote down about $4 million of usable engine inventory. It expects that using this inventory may support better margins as volumes rise. The main risk is clear. The customer has not committed to broader deployment.

What's next
The next phase under discussion is 200 propane generators. That would be the clearest sign that the trial is moving toward wider deployment. If that phase moves ahead, it would strengthen the case by showing repeat demand. If it does not, the 50-unit order remains the main sign of interest.
The filing also treats the five-year opportunity as potential, not certain. The company says the trial is the first phase of a possible rollout, not the last one. Investors will focus on whether Polar turns the discussion into a larger order. Until then, the filing sets a new baseline for customer traction.
